Full Body Masque

  • 1 handful finely crushed almonds
  • 5 tablespoons uncooked oatmeal
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup hot water

Mix all ingredients to form a paste. Slather on (especially on back and chest areas) and leave for 10 minutes. massage in; rinse off.

How to Make a Moisturizing Body Pack

Mention body packs and most people run the other way saying they could never do ‘that' – but in my opinion, you won't know until you try it so set aside a day and just do it! The most common complaint is the messiness of the treatment, but to me, that's the best part, must be from my childhood summers spent making the best mud pies in the neighborhood.

If there is a way to improve on something, I'll try it and I've found the best way to get someone to do this is to pick a warm summer day and drag out the ole' bathing suit and head on outside where clean up is as simple and easy as picking up the garden hose (this is great fun if you get to the hose first!)



Just imagine picking flowers while coated in clay or seaweed, you'll be the talk of the neighborhood, if you're like me, they already think your crazy anyway!

Double the ingredients if you can get a friend to do this with you:

  • 6 Tablespoons kelp
  • 6 Tablespoons clay
  • 4 Tablespoons arrowroot or other powder ingredient
  • 2 teaspoons sweet almond oil
  • 2/3 cup warm water
  • (if you have dry skin, replace the water with cream)

Mix dry ingredients together, stir in warm water and mix until smooth, then stir in the oil and mix well. Let sit for about 10 minutes to thicken, then massage into the body. Leave on for about 1/2 hour, rinse off, follow up with a light body lotion.

Whole-Body Mud Pack

Invigorating but messy.

  • 5 Ounces Fuller's Earth
  • 7 Fluid Ounces Fresh Apple Juice
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tablespoons Almond Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 6 Drops Sandalwood or Neroli Essential Oil

Mix the Fuller's earth with the apple and lemon juices until it forms a smooth paste. Stir in the almond oil, honey and essential oil. To use, apply small amounts of the mixture to the body. Start at the feet and work up. Concentrate on areas of dull, dingy skin.

Gently massage the mixture into the skin and leave for a few minutes to dry before getting into the shower. Use warm water to rinse off all traces of the mud pack, then shower.

Sandalwood Body Envelope

(a wonderful oil to use after a spa treatment!)

  • Add 3 drops of Orange (or Mandarin, my thought!)
  • 1 drop Rose
  • 2 drops Sandalwood
  • to 1/2 ounce of your favorite massage base oil

Envelop yourself in the Sandalwood Body Envelope…or better yet, have someone else envelope you!

DIY Body Sugaring Hair Removal

Here's a recipe a friend gave me for that aussie nads product you can make this at home for a lot cheaper. This process is called sugaring. Due to a bit of research I found out this isn't exactly a new found invention. This has been actually used in India for many years as well as stringing which is another story.

This is a bit painful no matter how much the commercial makes it look so watch out if you hate pain. But after awhile, it will make your Hair Growth less thick and less frequent. If you hold your skin taut and rip it out quick, it is less painful.

  • 1 cup sugar
  • Half a Lemon for the juice
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • A little bit of Molasses if you have any like a drizzle
  • Cornstarch (to powder with for tautness making it more effective)
  • Something to spread the mixture with like a tongue depressor, popsicle stick, cheese spreader or spatula.
  • Cotton fabric (any old thing you can find or buy some strips at a store)

Mix Lemon, sugar, and honey in a bowl. Microwave on high for about 2-3 minutes, until it bubbles into a smooth consistency. I find this a lot simpler then turning on the stove, but it would be safer if you watched over the heat on the stove. If you use the stove use LOW heat. Now move away from the mixture and go do something while it cools a little down so you can touch it safely.

A little bit warmer though is better though to use. Microwave it for 20 seconds if you find the need to. The NADS commercial said re heating isn’t necessary, but it’s no big deal doing so and I find it is necessary as all sugaring products do need just a little heating. Make sure your legs or where ever you wish to place it is clean and dry. Then dust area with cornstarch so it’s more effective as it draws out oil.

Spread a thin layer on your leg. Cover with a strip of fabric, and rubbing the strip the opposite way of Hair Growth, about three times. Grab the fabric end and pull it off very quickly against the direction of the Hair Growth or the other way if you wish. It will hurt, but after awhile it’s a lot less painful. I’m sure you’re strong enough to withstand pain. Reheat the mix if it gets too hard to spread.

This stores for a long time. I just use a Vitamin E Face Cream container that’s plastic since that’s fairly big which costs only a buck at the dollar store. Just make sure it's clean and oil free. You could also use a glass jar as well.

DIY Spa Style Herbal Body Wrap

  • 6 cups very hot water
  • 1/2 cup dried chamomile
  • 1/2 cup dried rosemary
  • 1/4 cup fresh Mint or Peppermint leaves
  • Cheesecloth or wide cotton gauze
  • Linen or loose-weave cotton, cut into long strips 4 to 6 inches wide
  • Roll of plastic wrap

Bring the water to a boil and remove it from the heat (or pour it into a stoppered sink). Wrap the herbs in the cheesecloth or gauze, making a large bundle, and push them down into the water with a large spoon or other utensil. Cover the infusion to contain the steam and allow it to sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Uncover the herbal infusion, stir it once or twice, and add the long strips of linen or cotton.

When the fabric is saturated, wring it out and wrap the strips around your body (like a mummy) except your head, lower arms, and feet. The infusion and fabric should be hot, but not so hot they will burn you! When you're done, repeat the wrapping process by covering the fabric with the plastic wrap.

Make a cold compress for your head and pour yourself a cool glass of water to sip while you rest. Now lie down, relax and let the herbs do their work. Leave the wrapping on your body for no more than 15 to 20 minutes; then unwrap and cool your body for another 15 minutes before showering.

HINT: If you have High Blood Pressure, heart problems, or other medical conditions such high-heat situations may be harmful. Be sure to consult your doctor if you have health problems and want to do this procedure.
