Action: Antiseptic, antibiotic, analgesic, antineuralgic, antibacterial (staph, strep, E. coli), antispasmodic, aperitif, astringent, emmenagogue, febrifuge, insecticidal, cholagogue, sedative, stomachic, sudorific, tonic.

Benefits, Indications: This warming oil is often used in aromatherapy since it is a good antiseptic for the respiratory system, perks up the digestive system, settles stomach pain and expels wind, while promoting confidence, courage and insight.

Topically, it is most often used to combat hair loss and to improve the health of the scalp in general. Dandruff, hair care, neuralgia, oily skin, poor circulation, sprains, strains.

Supplemental Information: Bay and Benzoin Uses

Chemical Constituents: Eugenol, myrcene, chavicol, methyl eugenol, linalool, limonene.

Companion Oils: Cedarwood, coriander, eucalyptus, geranium, ginger, juniper, lavender, lemon, orange, rose, rosemary, thyme, ylang-ylang

Precautions: Avoid in alcoholism, in hemophilia, in prostate cancer, with kidney and liver problems and if taking anticoagulants. Use in moderation. Moderately toxic and a mucous membrane irritant. Pregnant women should avoid it.
