Will tougher economic times lead to improved health?

That is the message that could be taken from a report issued on the US Nutritional Supplement markets.  According to the report, the US nutritional supplements industry has seen continued growth whereas other industries have declined. The reason suggested is that baby boomers in particular are becoming concerned about the increasing cost of ‘health care’ and are making more effort to prevent getting ill in the first place.   Although I certainly do not like seeing anyone being negatively affected by the economic downturn,  the end result for many may well be positive if it increases their awareness to the fact that the overwhelming majority of illness is avoidable by following a sensible lifestyle,  which naturally includes exercise and good food combined with sensible supplementation .
