Question by flippybrunette: What humanitarian organizations will let an 18 year old girl go to Darfur?
After high school it has always been my dream to go to Darfur and work in a refugee camp. Do you know of any humanitarian organizations that will allow me to go there?

    I have done some volunteer work in Ecuador. I know for a fact that at 18 they will ask you for previous work experience etc. You can also check with UN volunteers and maybe the Red Cross – I do think they have a presence in Darfur – I am not 100% sure.

    I’ve got in contact with a couple NGO’s that are there right now for volunteering…but it’s almost impossible to volunteer there if you aren’t a professional (doctor, nurse, etc…) b/c a lot of the activities that are needed there usually go to locals b/c they have heavy unemployment…so they pay a lot of people that live in certain area’s of Darfur to do a lot of the work that you are looking to volunteer for.
