The median life expectancy is somewhere around seventy-seven years of age. Yet, many folks around the earth are living to well beyond the 100 year mark. How are they managing to Increase Longevity?
They have good genes without doubt, but there are additional factors that play a role. For those with good genes, even smoking and consuming not-so-healthy food can not discourage them from living to a ripe old age. But, this isn’t the norm.
Here are a few tips from those who have made the leap to centenarian. Other people are well on their way and you will be able to make it as well.
Here Are Some Great Tips to Help You Increase Longevity:
* Drink a good deal of water – It’s like a natural remedy. Water nourishes body and keeps your skin looking supple and moisturized.
* Take care of your body – As the saying goes, if you take care of your body, it will likewise take care of you. Get regular check-ups at the physician one time per year. Take medicines as prescribed and follow the physicians orders.
* Acquire regular exercise – Exercise benefits everybody at all ages. Aerobic activity is crucial for slimming down or maintaining a reasonable weight. You do not have to run a marathon, but you can ride your bicycle every day or go for walks. Do not forget the strength training. It builds and maintains muscle as you age. This increases balance and agility.
* Slim down – This accompanies the one above. Gaining too much weight may lead to an entire host of other conditions like diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and others. Even losing 10 percent of your weight may bring down your chances significantly of acquiring any of these conditions.
* Stretch your mind – The worst thing you are able to do is watch TV all day. It does nothing to stimulate the mind. Alternatively practice neurobics. This is the term for mind aerobics that creates new synaptic pathways in the brain and keeps your focus and concentration fresh. Do crossword puzzles. Practice writing something with your opposite hand.
* Watch what you consume – You are what you eat and you would like to be the one who lives for a long time. Some centenarians attribute a portion of their longevity to consuming natural foods such as fresh fruits and veggies. Likewise, avoiding processed foods and trans fats helps bring down the toxins in your body.
* Have sex – This one might be just what the doctor ordered. A healthy sex life well into your advanced years can help bring down the risk of several disease processes. Besides, it’s a pleasurable way for couples to let go of stress and grow closer.
* Stay optimistic – The mind is a crucial part of all that we do. We can convince ourselves that we can do anything that we put our mind to. Adopt a new sport. Learn to swim or take piano lessons. Keep the zest for life fresh.
