A great many physical ailments have been attributed to a colon in need of home colon cleansing. While home colon cleansing is not a cure-all, it does have a valid place in a healthy lifestyle. Here are some reasons why, and some suggestions for how to do a home colon cleanse.

What does the colon do?

In short, the colon eliminates solid waste from the body. After the nutrients from the food you eat are absorbed through the small intestine and distributed via the liver into the bloodstream, the “leftovers” move into the large intestine, or colon, where they are eliminated when you go to the bathroom.

Problems arise when wastes accumulate in rather than exit the colon, causing constipation, bloating, and/or a condition known as systemic intoxication or poisoning. Systemic intoxication can lead to cognitive difficulties such as confusion, and even emotional problems such as depression and irritability. Some sources suggest that allergic “attacks” of hives, sneezing, and coughing are due to systemic intoxication. Accumulated waste in the colon has been implicated in cancer, diverticulitis, and nutrient deficiencies. It’s easy to see how home colon cleansing can be an important part of a healthy lifestyle

Pizza is a favorite food for many people. Too bad it is so loaded with calories that most people don’t indulge if they want to lose weight and stay healthy. No need to worry. Here are some alternatives for your pizza to help you enjoy it anyway.

Let’s start from the bottom up, which is where the expert pizza guys start when they are making their wonderful-tasting pie. Many commercial crusts are made with white flour. Processed white flour contains too many sugars. It rates high on the glycemic index.

For those who don’t know, the glycemic index is a way of rating carbohydrates. If a carbohydrate causes your blood sugar to spike, it will usually get a number above 50 on the index. Spikes are usually followed by periods of sluggishness when you eat more spiking carbs to give you some energy. It is a vicious cycle.

Eating foods that are lower on this index will help keep your blood sugar steady, which fights cravings. Your energy level becomes consistent throughout the day as well.

Between 1918 and 1919 over 20 million people died from the influenza virus. There were not many ways known to treat the virus and as a result it spread quickly and killed many. The influenza virus is spread through respiratory secretions, from coughing and sneezing, and will usually run its course within one to two weeks.

Symptoms include chills, fever, headache, soreness, backache and fatigue. Individuals who are at higher risk for developing more severe disease often have an underlying medical condition that affects their immune system, such as AIDS, diabetes or asthma, or they are greater than 65 or younger than five.

For the largest majority of people, however, the flu causes uncomfortable and irritating symptoms that resolve on their own. The best way to treat the flu is to prevent getting it in the first place. That is accomplished by keeping your immune system in good condition and practicing good hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus.

There are hundreds of different cold and flu viruses, most of them which routinely alter themselves on an annual basis in response to their own environment. This means that any thought of the traditional medical cure is nowhere in sight. This is because of the way in which current antibiotics and medications are developed. For this reason many of these same cure words which were used by our ancestors continue to be used today in order to cure the flu. The flu will typically affect between 10 and 35% of the population each year, depending upon the virulence of seasonal flu variety and how well protected individuals keep themselves.

In close quarters, conditions are always right for the spread of the virus which explains why the highest incidence of the flu is in children between the ages of five to 18 who spend most of their time in school. However, the most serious complications occur in older adults and those whose immune system is compromised from underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma or AIDS.

The common cold is an infection that invades your nose and throat and is caused by a common virus. Most people catch between two and four colds a year depending upon the level of their immune system and how well they’re able to take care of themselves.

Symptoms will usually appear one to three days after you are exposed to a cold virus and those symptoms include a runny nose, cough, nasal congestion, sneezing, watery eyes and a mild headache. Sometimes individuals will suffer from a low grade fever on the first day of their cold but this does not mean that they have the flu.

The invasion of viruses in the body which causes the symptoms can be slowed, stopped or even eliminated with a few simple steps that you can take either before you get a cold or immediately upon discovering the symptoms.

acid refluxHave you ever heard of acid reflux? You probably have. Acid reflux is also known by a couple of other names. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and heartburn are all forms of acid reflux.

Chances are, if you are like most people, you have had acid reflux at least one or twice. If you are unlucky enough to be like many people, you have chronic problems with this.

You have heard of acid reflux and you know that most of the time you will need to take some type of medication, such as antacids to alleviate the sour stomach or burning sensation that you feel.

You also know that there are some foods that will cause you to have more problems than other. If you are among those that have acid reflux only occasionally, then you probably do not even give acid reflux a second though unless you have it.

However, do you really know what acid reflux, or GERD is?
