“I can’t take these hot flashes anymore!” This is a common reaction to most of the symptoms associated with menopause. There will come a point when the question will be asked, “Is hormone
replacement therapy a good thing?”

Many women have chosen this course of treatment to decrease symptoms associated with menopause. However, there are issues to consider. While HRT can be a blessing for some, it can also be a curse for …

A supplement is something that completes or makes in addition, such as a dietary supplement or nutritional supplement. Any incidents of sports supplementation it can be anything from an energy drink to anabolic steroids which enhance performance. The question of whether a supplementation for elite athletes is legally or morally correct is one that has been debated for centuries.

When it comes to cholesterol, most people think lower is better. But it isn’t so simple. While all the cholesterol you eat is the same, cholesterol in the blood travels in different types of packages. The two basic kinds are LDL (low-density lipoprotein, the “bad” type), which promotes atherosclerosis, and HDL (high-density lipoprotein, the “good” type), which helps protect against this. So while you want to keep your LDL and total cholesterol low, you want to keep your HDL high.

HDL is turning out to be even more cardio-protective than previously thought. Not only does it …

After the excitement of finding out that she is pregnant, pretty much the next thing on her mind is: will my baby be healthy? She then tries to find out what foods she should avoid because they may harm her baby, or what exercises are safe to continue to do while pregnant. She examines virtually every aspect of her life in order to determine what she needs to avoid in order to have a healthy pregnancy.

Psoriasis is a very common, chronic skin condition that results in red, patchy, flaky areas of the skin. These areas develop because of the effects on the lifecycle of the skin cells. Normally it takes new cells approximately 1 month to rise to the top or surface of the skin after development. At this point the skin layer it dies and flakes off. This allegation is the thrust of an article by Byron Richards. It is also something that I agree with him on. He has written an excellent article on the subject of statins introducing some new material and I have reproduced it below for you.

It is common for people to be ‘forced’ to go on to a statin drug when there is no need for it. The latest instance that was brought to my attention was just a few days ago when a lady made a comment …

“Omega 3 fatty acids benefit the hearts of healthy people and those at high risk of, or who have cardiovascular disease.”
(American Heart Association)

Omega 3 essential fatty acids have long been recognized for their significant health benefits. Clinical studies have determined that the main benefits are derived from DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) and to a lesser extent EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid).

Although you will receive various health benefits from Omega 3s when taken from plant sources such as flax seed oil, you may miss out on the special benefits from DHA and EPA. This is because oils from …

Doctors, researchers and scientists recommend that people receive adequate amounts of nutrients I eating a variety of foods in moderation, rather than by taking nutritional supplements or a vitamin and mineral pill.

The daily Dietary Recommended Allowance are the best available estimate of faith in adequate dietary intakes that we have at this time. These are our best estimates of what the body requires in order to provide optimal growth and development in children and to slow the aging process and adults.

Vitamins and minerals are necessary chemicals which the body requires in order to be …

Psoriasis is a disorder of the skin that affects over 6 million people in the United States alone.  Research has not definitively established what exactly causes psoriasis, but recent studies have indicated that it may be an immune mediated disorder.

Psoriasis occurs when the body generates too many skin cells and may change from one type to another within a matter of days.

It may improve, flare up, and even go into remission only to return at a later date.  When alternative treatments are used in conjunction with other treatments the patient is given a feeling of …
