Do you often have to nag and push to get your man to go to the doctor? Youre not alone. Women are four times more likely to go to the doctor than men. So its no wonder he sits in pain for something youd have no issues making an appointment for. But why is it that men seem to avoid doctors visits for even serious issues?

One of the biggest reasons men dont regularly visit the doctor is because theyre just not used to it. Women …

I am notoriously horrible at maintaining good nutrition practices. Oh, I KNOW them.

I know I should follow them, but there’s always something else to handle, some place to go, a phone call to answer, an email to respond to – the list goes on and on.

(And I didn’t even mention laundry, dishes, letting the dogs out, meetings, and oh, yeah, taking a bath!)

The thing is, I’m educated in both natural healing modalities and the principals of good nutrition. I’m mom to six children (my ‘baby’ just graduated!) and …

Hoodia is a prickly plant called a succulent, which closely resembles the cactus family. Bearing large odorous blooms, the hoodia plant has been used for ages by the San tribe of South Africa. The San people, also commonly known as bushmen, use hoodia by chewing on the root during long desert trips.

The appetite suppressant qualities of the hoodia plant were discovered by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, or CSIR, in 1996. The CSIR were performing a study of the natural foods eaten by the bushmen and happened to …

That of course is the general idea behind this article. There’s a lot of materials out there about composting and compost and the last thing you need is another one that explains the technical aspect of the process and the scientific basis behind the importance of using composts.

Although, I’m not denying the fact that technical explanations such as those are necessary as well, but it would be nice to hear or read something more of layman’s approach on the subject. Well that’s something that this article would like to do, …

Childhood obesity is a growing problem in America, and getting our kids up off the couch and outside is a great way to combat this issue. Re-connecting with nature is not only good for the body but for the mind and, some would say, the soul as well.

As you look for ways to encourage your children to get outside, remember to make it a family thing. One of the keys to getting everyone moving is just that – everyone should get moving! Grown-ups need exercise, too, and doing outdoor …

A study conducted by Joel M. Gelfand, M.D., M.S.C.E., and colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and released by the Archives of Dermatology in December of 2007 shows that there is an increased risk for early death in men and women who have severe psoriasis.

Severe psoriasis for purposes of clinical studies is defined as: when a patient has at least 10% of body surface area (BSA) covered involved in the disease and the severity index (PASI) score is greater than or equal to 12, than they are …

Introduction

In the holistic health care field many healing modalities have become the subject of interest and study for healthcare providers, holistic practitioners and the general populace alike. Many are finding that the combination of two or more therapies brings quicker, more complete relief from physical, emotional, spiritual and mental maladies than does one modality alone. For the purposes of this discussion, I am going to focus on the practice of using Aromatherapy to complement and enhance the benefits of Reflexology.

Many people are aware …

TWENTIETH-CENTURY SCIENCE

Investigations into the therapeutic use of color were carried out in Europe during the early twentieth century, notably by Rudolph Steiner, who related color to form, shape, and sound. He suggested that the vibrational quality of certain colors is amplified by some forms, and that certain combinations of color and shape have either destructive or regenerative effects on living organisms. In the schools inspired by Steiner’s work, classrooms are painted and textured to correspond to the “mood” of children at various stages of their development.
