A great many physical ailments have been attributed to a colon in need of home colon cleansing. While home colon cleansing is not a cure-all, it does have a valid place in a healthy lifestyle. Here are some reasons why, and some suggestions for how to do a home colon cleanse.

What does the colon do?

In short, the colon eliminates solid waste from the body. After the nutrients from the food you eat are absorbed through the small intestine and distributed via the liver into the bloodstream, the “leftovers” move into the large intestine, or colon, …

I am notoriously horrible at maintaining good nutrition practices. Oh, I KNOW them.

I know I should follow them, but there’s always something else to handle, some place to go, a phone call to answer, an email to respond to – the list goes on and on.

(And I didn’t even mention laundry, dishes, letting the dogs out, meetings, and oh, yeah, taking a bath!)

The thing is, I’m educated in both natural healing modalities and the principals of good nutrition. I’m mom to six children (my ‘baby’ just graduated!) and I know full well how …

Hoodia is a prickly plant called a succulent, which closely resembles the cactus family. Bearing large odorous blooms, the hoodia plant has been used for ages by the San tribe of South Africa. The San people, also commonly known as bushmen, use hoodia by chewing on the root during long desert trips.

The appetite suppressant qualities of the hoodia plant were discovered by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, or CSIR, in 1996. The CSIR were performing a study of the natural foods eaten by the bushmen and happened to discover the amazing potential the …

That of course is the general idea behind this article. There’s a lot of materials out there about composting and compost and the last thing you need is another one that explains the technical aspect of the process and the scientific basis behind the importance of using composts.

Although, I’m not denying the fact that technical explanations such as those are necessary as well, but it would be nice to hear or read something more of layman’s approach on the subject. Well that’s something that this article would like to do, anyhow.

Compost is an organic …

Childhood obesity is a growing problem in America, and getting our kids up off the couch and outside is a great way to combat this issue. Re-connecting with nature is not only good for the body but for the mind and, some would say, the soul as well.

As you look for ways to encourage your children to get outside, remember to make it a family thing. One of the keys to getting everyone moving is just that – everyone should get moving! Grown-ups need exercise, too, and doing outdoor activities together can really foster …

An example of a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) that is truly complementary is the Bach Flower Remedies. That’s because you can use them with any other single or combination of therapies from conventional through the CAM spectrum.

You can use them alone or while you are being treated with other remedies. And they work on the basis that improving your emotions, to change them from negative to positive, will help the healing process from within.

They restore your mental balance to prevent disease starting in the first place or stimulating healing when you are ill.

It’s all …

benefits of activated charcoal

Activated charcoal powder is an amazing substance and there are many benefits of activated charcoal. It adsorbs more poisons than any other substance known to mankind.
Did you know about these benefits of activated charcoal?
It can adsorb lead acetate, strychnine, DDT, many drugs (including cocaine, iodine, penicillin, aspirin, phenobarbital), and inorganic substances (chlorine, lead, and mercury).

Activated charcoal powder can adsorb thousands of times its own weight in gases, heavy metals, poisons, and other chemicals; thus it renders them ineffective and harmless. As this absorption ability is one of the major benefits of activated charcoal, this substance …

A study conducted by Joel M. Gelfand, M.D., M.S.C.E., and colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and released by the Archives of Dermatology in December of 2007 shows that there is an increased risk for early death in men and women who have severe psoriasis.

Severe psoriasis for purposes of clinical studies is defined as: when a patient has at least 10% of body surface area (BSA) covered involved in the disease and the severity index (PASI) score is greater than or equal to 12, than they are characterized as having severe psoriasis.
