Scientists recently learned that the essential fatty acid, DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid), could be linked to human mental performance. They studied 280 healthy adult volunteers from Pennsylvania, and the volunteers who had higher blood levels of DHA got better scores on mental performance tests. In the study, the participants with higher DHA levels received better scores on cognitive tests for nonverbal reasoning and mental flexibility, as well as working memory.
