But the bad thing about yeast infections is that they can keep coming back. You should learn how to prevent yeast infections before they start.
One of the main causes of a yeast infection is antibiotic use. Since antibiotics kill off the good bacteria in your system, you need to do something that will balance out the levels of bacteria. You can do this by eating yogurt every day. Make sure that the yogurt that you eat has live acidophilis cultures.
If you are a diabetic, it is important that you keep your blood sugars under control. Yeast thrives on sugar. A high level of sugar in your blood stream can contribute to an out of control yeast infection.
It is good idea to reduce the amount of carbohydrates that you eat. Carbohydrates are an excellent food for yeast because they are converted into sugar in your body. By cutting back on carbohydrates you can lower your risk for developing a yeast infection.
Eating a balanced diet can strengthen your immune system. This will help you to prevent a yeast infection. The stronger your immune system is, the less likely you will need antibiotics to treat an illness. Less antibiotic treatment means less chance of getting a yeast infection.
It is important that you get enough sleep to help prevent a yeast infection. The body that does not have enough sleep is unable to fight off infections, including yeast infections.
If you go swimming, get out of your wet swimsuit as quick as possible. Yeast loves warm, moist places and a wet bathing suit is the perfect environment.
It is also a good idea to avoid tight fitting clothing. Tight clothing will trap in moisture and allow yeast to grow. You should also avoid nylon and synthetic underwear. Cotton underwear is the best because it allows moisture to evaporate.
Women that are susceptible to yeast infections should not douche. Douching upsets the normal PH balance in the vagina and allows yeast to flourish.
Women should also avoid scented tampons and pads. It is a good idea to avoid feminine deodorant sprays and scented soaps that can irritate the vaginal area. Vaginal irritation encourages yeast growth.
Women should always wipe from front to back to avoid infecting the vaginal area with bacteria from the anal area. Good hygiene is a must if you want to prevent a yeast infection.
If you or your partner has a yeast infection, make sure you both get treated. If one partner remains untreated, the result will be re-infection with sexual activity.
Yeast infections can be very painful and even interrupt your daily routine if left untreated. It is best to prevent a yeast infection in the first place.
