Natural Soothers for Acid Reflux

Eating right is not always an option. When you consider how busy you are every day, then it is no wonder why you can’t eat healthy for every meal. Fast food and unhealthy quick meals seems to be a way  of life for many. However, there is a price to pay for eating on the go. Not only will you gain weight, but many times, if you eat fatty foods, you will also suffer from acid reflux.

Acid reflux is no fun. It is something that almost every person suffers from at some time or another. When you eat certain foods, it will trigger the stomach acids to cause this condition. Some cases are more severe than others. Of course, there are many treatment options that you have. If you have occasional bouts of acid reflux, then you may want to consider some of the following natural soothers to help treat the symptoms of your acid reflux.

Ginger: Ginger is a natural soother for your stomach. In fact, many people swear by using ginger for an upset stomach. If it works for that, then it can certainly work for your acid reflux. Not only will ginger help sooth stomach cramps, but it can also help ease your symptoms. You can buy fresh ginger or you can purchase ginger ale or make a tea out of the dry ginger powder. Catnip: Believe it or not, that catnip is not just for your fluffy feline friend. Catnip can actually help the digestion of people, too. This herb is widely available and can help alleviate stress and help you sleep, too. When your use it for your stomach, it will relax your stomach muscles and help your digestion.

Peppermint: Peppermint is another great tool to use for your digestion. There is a reason why many restaurants give out peppermint with meals. It not only freshens your breath, but it will help you ease the churning acids in your stomach. Peppermint works to ease the distress in your stomach and can help quickly make your stomach feel better after you eat.

Fennel: Fennel is a great and useful herb. This herb is often used to help alleviate stomach pain and help with gas, too. When you feel bloated after a big meal, then munch on some fennel. You can purchase fennel supplements at your local health food store, or grow a pot in your kitchen and grab a sprig.

Papaya: This tropical fruit is known to help with digestion. It is great at giving you a boost of vitamin C as well. If you do not like the taste of this fruit, then head to your local health food store and pick up tablets, which can be taken when you feel an acid reflux attack coming on. You will feel better quickly.

There are other natural soothers that are quite useful too. Check out aloe vera, anise and even fenugreek when you have a bout of acid reflux.
