Yeast infections can affect men the same as women. But the difference is men may not have any symptoms of a yeast infection. But a man that has a yeast infection can give it to his sexual partner.

How do men get yeast infections? Most of the time, a man will get a yeast infection from sex. If his partner tells him she has a yeast infection, then chances are she has given it to him.

In some cases, a man can get a yeast infection from prolonged antibiotic use. Antibiotics will kill off the good bacteria found in the body and allow any yeast found in the body to grow out of control.

Men who are diabetics will be a higher risk for developing a yeast infection. Yeast thrives on sugar, so a male diabetic who has poor insulin control can get a yeast infection. That is just one more reason to keep your sugar levels under control if you are diabetic.

There is some correlation between beer and a yeast infection. Many men who drink beer on a regular basis have been known to have penile yeast infections. Any man that has a weakened immunes system can be more likely to get a yeast infection.

The symptoms of a yeast infection in a man may include a reddish rash on the penis. This rash can be accompanied by itching and burning.

But a yeast infection may not be confined to the genital area. Yeast infections can affect the digestive system and the esophagus. A yeast infection that enters the blood stream can be life threatening.

The symptoms of a yeast infection in the digestive system will include bloating, constipation, bad breath, indigestion, and bouts of diarrhea. A man that has a yeast infection present in the digestive system may by moody and irritable. He may also find it very difficult to lose weight.

A yeast infection that seems to be present only on the outside of the body, such as in the groin area, can be treated with over the counter yeast infection cream. This is the same type of over the counter yeast infection treatment that women use.

If you suspect that you have a yeast infection elsewhere in your body, you need to see your doctor. He should be able to prescribe medication that you can take internally that will get rid of your yeast infection.

Remember, just because you are a man, it does not mean that you can not get a yeast infection. If your partner tell syou she has a yeast infection, it only makes since that you get treated also. If you dont treat yourself for a yeast infection at the same time as your partner, you could end up in a cycle of passing it back and forth.
