Finally Some Official Recognition About Amalgam Fillings

For years I have written about the potential dangers of mercury from amalgam fillings. During this period the safety of these fillings have been hotly debated by scientists on both sides of the fence.
It always interests me how scientists with similar education and qualifications can have such opposing views. Is it that they really believe what they are saying or are they being coerced to say what they do?
In any case the US FDA has now admitted that there is potential safety issues surrounding the use of amalgam fillings. At this stage they are keeping it low key by directing a caution to pregnant women and children, not the general population.
Personally I believe the caution should apply to everyone. A little mercury is still to much no matter who you are. It is deadly! So, if you need a tooth filled always go for the composite type even though it costs more. It may be cheaper in the long run.
An indirect benefit as a result of this statement from the FDA will no doubt be a reduction in the amount of mercury finding its way into lakes and streams as a result of less amalgam fillings and residues being flushed into the wastewater systems from dentists offices.
