Only men have prostate glands and they are situated underneath the bladder.
This tiny gland is about the same size as a large walnut and is comprised of two separate lobes with a layer of tissue on the outside. Some would argue that the prostate should not be called a gland, but an organ.
As men become older, the prostate gland often increases in size. During puberty it is a normal part of our growth cycle for the prostate to double in size.
When men reach the age of 25, or so, the prostate gland starts a second stage of growth. The gland continues to grow for many years and is the reason that it might become too enlarged, at some point.
The problem is that the layer of tissue that covers the prostate does not grow at the same time. The result can be symptoms of prostate problems by pressing against the urethra like a clamp. As a result, the bladder walls begin to become thicker and irritated. This is what leads to another of the symptoms of prostate problems – frequent urination.

Sex has both physical and psychological connotations. It requires not only physical fitness but also a cool and calm frame of mind before and during the act. Psychologically speaking, most women would have you believe that men are too ‘sex crazy’. Men on the other hand have both psychological and physical problems, especially after they cross forty and if they have an enlarged prostate.
There is a strong belief among specialists that prostate health and the frequency of the sexual act are interrelated. The simple logic behind their belief is that:
* The prostate produces a fluid that forms a major part of the semen.
* To produce the seminal fluid the gland and the seminal vesicles take up citric acid, potassium and zinc from the blood and concentrate them up to 600 times.
* Any carcinogenic substances that might be present in the blood would obviously be concentrated along with.
* Such carcinogens can potentially cause prostate cancer.

Men are likely to face a typical problem with their prostate, a small male gland located between the bowel and the bladder, once they are above the age of forty. A major problem arises when this gland enlarges and pressurizes the urethra through which the urine is passed.
The dribbling, incontinence, burning sensation and the necessity to get up in the night frequently for urinating associated with the condition can cause extreme irritation and annoyance.
The prostate produces specific proteins and a blood test for PSA (prostate specific antigen) that shows high levels, indicates an enlargement. It is necessary to establish whether the enlarged prostate is cancerous or benign in nature. An enlarged prostate can also be felt easily during a physical or ultrasonic rectal examination.
The exact cause of prostate cancer is not known but genetic predispositions and a fat rich diet are suspected to be the cause behind it. However, it is known that the male hormone testosterone stimulates the growth of the prostate and the cancer cells that it might be containing.

How to avoid hypertension in men can be accomplished by first understanding its cause. Just as air pumped into a tire exerts pressure on its lining and surface, your heart pumps blood through your arteries, and the force of the blood flow exerts pressure on the arterial walls. Therefore, just as too much air pressure is bad for the life of a tire, too much blood pressure eventually damages your arteries.
Here are some suggestions on how to avoid hypertension:
While smoking is not a cause of hypertension, it is a contributing factor. We know there is a definite link between smoking and heart disease, thus the combination of smoking and high blood pressure increases the risk of developing a heart attack.
Being overweight is another cause of hypertension. High salt intake increases this condition as well. It is important to find an appropriate diet regimen and exercise program to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. While there may be a connection between weight and hypertension, research reveals people who are at their ideal weight have less tendency to develop hypertension than those who are overweight.

UTI or urinary tract infection is often defined as the infection of the urinary tract system caused by proliferation of certain type of microbes. The infection usually occurs in the pathways of the urine, it starts from kidney, to ureters, to the bladder up to the urethra.
UTI develops first as cystitis – a not severe but painful swelling around the area of bladder, up to the stage wherein particular severe infections to the kidney have the higher chance of occurrence.
Urinary tract infection occurs when there is an incomplete emptying of the urine very so often from the bladder. The simplest way to maintain the hygiene to avoid any bacteria to settle in the urinary tract is to pour out all the urine totally and this should be done on a regular basis.
Some men have difficulty in urinating due to factors which may include enlarged prostate as well as the narrowing of the urethra. Some of the UTI’s causes can also be brought about by certain kinds of neurological circumstances such as multiple sclerosis, any kind of spinal damage as well as spina bifida.

Life has never been so complicated. With the advances in modern living, the comfort and luxury that we now have, we have lived extremely busy life because of the rat race and the various demands that this modern time has brought us.
While not all experience exhaustion in the middle of our busy lives, there is a significant number of people who experience stress, men in particular because of the importance that men would put on their professional status.
Time and again, women have been said to be better in coping with stress than do men. This is because women tend to have more defined outlet and ways to cope with stress and deal with it more effectively. There was even one in the headlines in the late 90s when three Japanese men committed suicide because of the dwindling financial status of their companies. Apparently, these Japanese businessmen were not able to control and manage the anxiety that the stressful nature of their positions have brought them.

Do you often have to nag and push to get your man to go to the doctor? Youre not alone. Women are four times more likely to go to the doctor than men. So its no wonder he sits in pain for something youd have no issues making an appointment for. But why is it that men seem to avoid doctors visits for even serious issues?
One of the biggest reasons men dont regularly visit the doctor is because theyre just not used to it. Women are used to going to the doctor regularly for yearly reproductive exams and pregnancy-related visits. This makes doctor’s visits more of a habit than they are for men. Men just dont think to go to the doctor like women do.
Another reason women just think to go to the doctor more than men would is that theyre generally in charge of health care for the kids. Kids regularly have to visit the doctor for shots, checkups, and illness, and usually mom is the one who takes them. Shes used to watching for signs of illness in her children, and this easily translates over to herself. Men arent usually conditioned to pay attention or treat signs of illness.

Infertility issues are painful, both emotionally and psychologically. Once a couple has decided to have children the complete failure at pregnancy is a blow to the self-esteem of both of them. Women feel the pain of being childless while men feel a blow to their virility. Infertility issues have the potential of being on either side of the couple, male or female.
Although female infertility issues are more complicated male infertility can raise issues that may or may not be reversible. When a couple first believes they may have infertility problems they should have had unprotected sex for at least 6 months without a conception.
Most physicians ask the couple to attend the first infertility appointment together. There some basic testing that can be done to quickly rule out the problem from the male side so that further testing can be performed on the woman.
