High Blood Pressure is a subject that comes up regularly because it is so common, even in quite young people. It is sometimes referred to as ‘the silent killer’ as it can creep up on you without you being aware of it. It’s considered to be a significant factor in increasing the risk of disability or death due to Heart Attack, stroke or Kidney failure.

It is also generally considered to be a disease in its own right, but that is nonsense! High Blood Pressure is a SYMPTOM of a serious underlying problem. It must be addressed if you want to avoid the slippery slope down to poor health and ultimately death. (Sorry about being a little melodramatic, but it’s so true).

Generally when someone finds out that they have High Blood Pressure they take the advice given by most Doctors and accept a prescription for anti hypertensive medication. But, are these medicines the best solution, or will they just speed up your slide down the ’slippery slope’?

A blood clot is the most common cause of a blocked coronary artery. Usually, the artery is already partially narrowed by atheromas. An atheroma may rupture or tear, narrowing the artery further and making blockage by a clot more likely. The ruptured atheroma not only reduces the flow of blood through an artery but also releases substances that make platelets stickier, further encouraging clots to form.

Uncommonly, a Heart Attack results when a clot forms in the heart itself, breaks away, and lodges in a coronary artery. Another uncommon cause is a spasm of a coronary artery that stops blood flow. Spasms may be caused by drugs. Sometimes the cause is unknown.

Heart Attack: Myocardial Infarction (MI)

Signs and Symptoms present as pain that is crushing, tightness, squeezing, band-like, radiating, cyanosis, Sweating, cold, “clenching fist over heart”, pain in the ear, umbilicus, jaw, teeth, back, arm, hand pain (often on the ulnar side), autonomic response of vomiting, nausea or a feeling of impending doom.

This allegation is the thrust of an article by Byron Richards. It is also something that I agree with him on. He has written an excellent article on the subject of statins introducing some new material and I have reproduced it below for you.

It is common for people to be ‘forced’ to go on to a statin drug when there is no need for it. The latest instance that was brought to my attention was just a few days ago when a lady made a comment on this blog about her husband being told to go on a statin drug or else his insurer would not give him coverage. His total Cholesterol was less than 200! I made the comment that I thought that was criminal.

Any man who’s ever suffered with impotence knows it can seriously impact the quality of his life. But impotence can also be a warning sign of something even more severe — Heart Disease.

In fact, I heard from Mark Houston, MD, director of clinical research at the Hypertension Institute of Nashville and associate clinical professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, that he asks male patients if they have trouble with erections as a standard component of a comprehensive physical exam, since one type of Erectile Dysfunction — endothelial dysfunction — has been linked to Heart Disease.

Specifically, the thin layer of cells (the endothelium) that lines the blood vessels produces various chemicals in the body, including hormones, that control inflammation, clotting, oxidative Stress and constriction and dilation — in other words, the general health of the blood vessels. The endothelium is vulnerable to many chemical stressors that can disrupt function, affecting all those processes, Dr. Houston explained. “When you have Erectile Dysfunction, there’s almost always endothelial dysfunction as well.”

Physicians have always believed that blood clots in the veins were rarely fatal unless they moved to other parts of the body. For example, deep vein thrombosis is rarely fatal unless the blood clot moves through the body to the lungs causing a pulmonary embolism.

However, a large Danish study has established that blood clots in the veins can indeed cause heart attacks and strokes and that the clots do not have to be in the arteries as previously thought.

The bottom line, is that this just reinforces the need to keep your blood and Circulation system in good order and avoid the formation of blood clots anywhere in the body. This is the reason why I take our Cardio-Klenz as a preventative measure. I also urge our customers to do the same even if it is just for a period of 6 months a year.

Formula for Varicose Veins

* 6 drops Cypress
* 3 drops Myrtle
* 3 drops German Chamomile
* 2 drops Frankincense (optional)
* 1 ounce St. John’s Wort oil

Combine ingredients. Apply externally. This can also be made into a salve by heating the oil and adding 1/2 teaspoon shaved Beeswax before adding the essential oils.

Herbal Adjuncts-Among the herbs which strengthen heart and blood pressure are hawthorn flower and berry, and Motherwort. Lymphatic cleaners include Echinacea, Cleavers and Oregon grape root, which may also be taken as teas, tinctures or pills.

The kitchen cupboard supplies many foods whose essential oils enhance Circulation, make blood vessels more elastic and inhibit blood clotting. These include Garlic, onion, Cayenne and Ginger. Ginger either raises blood pressure by restricting external blood flow, or lowers it by dilating surface blood vessels. Garlic and onions also lower High Blood Pressure. Lemongrass contains five different compounds that inhibit blood clotting.

From a health heart to a good sex life, the proper flow and Circulation of blood in our arteries is one of the most important things we can do to maintain good health and push back the aging process.

There is a common denominator between good arterial health and disorders such as Heart Attack, obesity, Diabetes and high glucose levels, as well as sexual health. That common denominator is blood.

One of the single most preventatives is a proper diet. Because diet strongly influences weight, sex hormone production, including testosterone, the health of our arteries and its flow, it is important to cut back on excess meat consumption, full fat, dairy products and a lack of vegetables and fruits in the diet.

By Dr. Lisa Hosbein

Every American should be paying attention to the health of their heart, and particularly to the health of the arteries in their heart, because Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of Americans, including women. Overall, about 480,000 American women die of Heart Disease each year, which is 60,000 more women then men.

Women are very concerned about breast cancer and whether or not they should take hormones. What most women don’t realize is that they have a much higher risk of dying from Heart Disease than dying from breast cancer. Heart Disease is different for women and men. Women need to focus more on the health of their small arteries, whereas men with heart disease often have blockage of their larger arteries. The prevention and treatment of problems in the small versus large arteries are different. More importantly, we will be reviewing several basic steps that everyone should be taking to keep their hearts healthy.
