When the eye becomes inflamed it is usually a response to trauma, an infection (bacterial or viral), surgery, allergic reaction or irritants found in our environment.

Most of the time, eye inflammation is no cause for concern but it is still important to make sure that you keep the duration and severity of the inflammation to a minimum.

If these things are left to drag out they can end up causing scarring in the eye. Even a tiny amount of scar tissue in the eye can cause permanent problems with your sight.

You should be very careful to …

We have been using Zeaxanthin in our three Total Balance formulas for more than 5 years when the evidence relating to its benefits to the eyes became indisputable.

It’s an extremely potent carotenoid…many times more so than its ‘cousin’ Lutein! Mind you it would be expected to be more potent given that it costs twenty (20) times as much as Lutein. That is if you buy the best form which is produced under the brand name ‘OptisharpTM’. (The cost is one of the reasons why you often don’t see …

What is Vizu-All Plus and how does it work?

Vizu-All Plus contains herbs especially selected for their effectiveness in the natural prevention and treatment of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration.

It does this by improving the supply of blood, oxygen and nutrients to the tiny capillaries of the eye and by counteracting and protecting against the damage caused to the eye by free radicals in the system.

Because it also strengthens the walls of the blood vessels in the eye, Vizu-All Plus also helps to reduce hemorrhages in the eyes – a condition often associated with diabetes.

A stye is a rather nasty little infection that affects the eye. The glands and follicles at the edge of the eyelash tend to be affected most often. They come in two varieties external, or hordeolum, and internal.

The external type first seems as if it were simply a sore pimple. But soon it swells up and begins to hurt worse. A hordeolum stye occurs underneath the eyelid and becomes very tender and swollen, as well. Since it is hidden from view you cannot usually see pus.

Bacteria is to blame for styes. The oil ducts of …

You and I both know that the eyes are responsible for giving us the gift of sight and are very important. They are extremely sensitive organs and really do not have much protection.

Maybe as we evolve further a bulletproof shield will cover them but for now we are stuck with the eyelid, eyebrow and tears for protection. I strongly doubt we will ever have bulletproof eyes but it was worth a shot at humor. Maybe you needed a good laugh or are thinking right now ‘Wow! This guy is lame.’. No matter.

Many things can cause …

Newborn babies are sweet, cuddly and require daily care to keep them happy and healthy. One of those areas of their health that must be addressed is newborn eye care. Babies cant tell you if they have eye or vision problems, if they are itchy or swollen. So physicians and parents should be diligent about their care of a baby’s eyes.

Babies usually keep their eyes shut for long periods of time but they can react to lighting changes. They typically focus on objects that are within 1 foot of their faces …

Blocked tear ducts are a common complaint of parents about their newborn babies. They present to the pediatrician with a child who appears to have tears spilling over onto their cheeks without evidence of crying. The child may also have mucus type material on the edges of the eyelid.

Parents are often concerned that their newborn has contracted pink eye before even being exposed to others.

Normally tears are cleared from the eye through the tear ducts. However, when those ducts are blocked the tears flow down the cheek or build up and dry …

It stands to reason that there will be a relationship between muscular disease and eye focusing problems, since the eye is a muscle and can be affected as well.

One of the most common of the muscular diseases, which affect the eye, is muscular dystrophy. There are several different types of this disease, including one called oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy, which is actually a weakening of the eye muscle itself.

Other neuromuscular diseases which show problems with the patients ability to focus properly, include myotonic muscular dystrophy (MMD), myasthenia gravis (MG), congenital myasthenic syndromes, and mitochondrial disorders.

Macular degeneration is one of the most common causes of sight loss among people in the world today. There has been more and more research being carried out to try and find ways to stop the loss of vision, and to try and prevent and treat the disease process.

Those who are suffering with this condition are often willing to try any kind of treatment that can be made available to them, and many people have so many questions about their options, including whether or not there are actual eye glasses for macular degeneration.
