There are so many ways to use crystals in your life. You can use them for divination, protection and love, or simply wear them as a piece of jewelery. And if you have a problem, crystals can guide you towards the correct course of action.

With so much information widely obtainable, you can easily find the right crystal for you and start programming it to attract what you really want into your life.

Unsure of which crystal to use? The truth is the right one will select you. This is because crystals transmit energy levels and will resonate with your deepest feeling as soon as you first pick one up. As you hold it in your hand you will immediately feel an immense energy. If it feels right then this is the one for you. You must simply trust in your intuition.

When you are sure you have the crystal for your purpose it will need to be cleansed and purified. Since crystals absorb energy from their surroundings this is important as you do not want someone else’s energy imprinted onto your crystal. The best way to do this is by immersing it in a non-metallic container filled with water and dissolved sea salt. You can also cleanse your crystal by holding it under a running tap.

However, with some crystals, contact with water is best avoided and care must also be taken not to scratch any polished crystals. Check with where you purchased your crystal to be sure. When it is cleansed, leave it to dry naturally, preferably in the sun. But again, make sure that this is OK because some crystals are sensitive to sunlight and may crack.

You will then need to programe your crystal. It is essential that you are calm and won’t be disturbed. First, hold it in your hand and state that it will only be used for the highest good. Sit quietly as you focus on your desire. Visualize it clearly. Try to create an image using all your senses. By feeling, hearing, tasting, touching and smelling an imaginary experience, it has all the more chance to manifest itself in the real world.

When you feel that the programming is complete (again, trust your intuition) put down the crystal. Then, depending on its purpose, you can then wear it, carry it in your pocket, put it under your pillow or by your bed at night.

Remember – it is important to keep a positive mind in all creative visualization work; you are programming your crystal to change your life positively. You do not want it to attract any negativity. Just remain focused and believe. If you do get a negative thought, quickly replace it with a positive one. Soon you will see amazing results!

How to Use Color for Healing

1) Use colored lights, visualize colors or use crystal massage wands of various colors to stimulate reflexes in your hands, feet and on your body. Combining color with crystals with reflexology stimulation – and even further combining it with aromatherapy oils – can dramatically increase effectiveness.

2. Simply visualize or imagine the color in your mind as you bathe or lie quietly on your bed, in order to restore your well-being.

3. Purchase a colored light bulb in the shade you need. Insert into your bathroom fixture or portable lamp (making sure it is a safe distance from the water) and use it while you take a healing bath.

4. Use natural food coloring in the bathwater. Several drops won’t affect your skin and will tint the water to a gentle hue.

5. Burn a candle in the appropriate color as you meditate, bathe, or simple lie quietly.

What is Color Therapy

Color Therapy or chromotherapy is  the ancient science and art of using the power of colors for restorative health and personal well-being. The ancient Egyptians believed that one of their gods, Thoth, was the divine originator of the method of healing with natural colors. Both the ancient Indians and the Greeks also used color to treat the weak and the infirm. Their premise was based on the hypothesis that since the human body contained fluids of different colors such as bile (yellow), blood (red) and phlegm (white), colors control the human disposition.

Modern science including behavioral science recognizes that colors can have a long-lasting impression on our moods and many colors have a calming effect on us. Color therapy involves identifying the source of the ailment and treating it with the color associated with the ailment. Since color therapy is totally non-invasive, it is easy to administer and never has any side effects.

How is Color Therapy Administered?

There are essentially three ways in which color therapy is administered. Many color therapy experts use a combination of these modalities and often recommend the use of specific products known for their potent color-based healing properties.

Spot Therapy

In this approach, a specific color is applied to a part of the body either through direct touch or through colored light. Regular treatment cycles are set up and the patient’s progress is monitored regularly.

Chakra Color Therapy

The ancient science of Indian medicine called Ayurveda believes that there are specific energy points in our bodies called Chakras, which have a deep association with our health and wellness. The Chakra associated with the malady is pin pointed and the appropriate color is administered in one of several ways to the location of the Chakra. This can include direct exposure to specific colored products, which may have additional therapeutic qualities, exposure to colored light, and the wearing of gemstones, which remain in constant touch with the human body.

Pyramid Color Therapy

In this form of color therapy, the power bestowed by Nature on the geometrical shapes of the Egyptian Pyramids is combined with the soothing and healing properties of colors to bring curative relief.

TWENTIETH-CENTURY SCIENCE

Investigations into the therapeutic use of color were carried out in Europe during the early twentieth century, notably by Rudolph Steiner, who related color to form, shape, and sound. He suggested that the vibrational quality of certain colors is amplified by some forms, and that certain combinations of color and shape have either destructive or regenerative effects on living organisms. In the schools inspired by Steiner’s work, classrooms are painted and textured to correspond to the “mood” of children at various stages of their development.

Rudolph Steiner’s work was continued by Theo Gimbel, who established the Hygeia Studios and College of Color Therapy in Britain. Among the principles explored by Gimbel are the claims of Max Luscher, a former professor of psychology at Basle University, who claimed that color preferences demonstrate states of mind and/or glandular imbalance, and can be used as the basis for physical and psychological diagnosis. Luscher’s theory, which forms the basis of the Luscher Color Test, rests on the idea that the significance of color for man originates in his early history, when his behavior was governed by night and day. Luscher believed that the colors associated with these two environments � yellow and dark blue � are connected with differences in metabolic rate and glandular secretions appropriate to the energy required for nighttime sleep and daytime hunting. He also believed that autonomic (involuntary) responses are associated with other colors.

Support for Luscher’s theories was provided in the 1940s by the Russian scientist S. V. Krakov, who established that the color red stimulates the sympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system, while blue stimulates the parasympathetic part. His findings were confirmed in 1958 by Robert Gerard.

Gerard found that red produced feelings of arousal, and was disturbing to anxious or tense subjects, while blue generated feelings of tranquility and well-being and had a calming effect. The discovery that blood pressure increases under red light and decreases under blue light led Gerard to suggest that psychophysiological activation increases with wavelength from blue to red.

Although cautious about his findings and insisting on the need for further research, Gerard highlighted the possible therapeutic benefits of the color blue, and recommended it as supplementary therapy in the treatment of various conditions. Among other suggestions, Gerard pointed to the possible uses of blue as a tranquilizer and relaxant in anxious individuals, and as a way of reducing blood pressure in the treatment of hypertension.

Dr. Harry Wohlfarth also showed that certain colors have measurable and predictable effects on the autonomic nervous system of people. In numerous studies, he found that blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates increase most under yellow light, moderately under orange, and minimally under red, while decreasing most under black, moderately under blue, and minimally under green.

Subsequent research on plants and animals conducted by the photobiologist Dr. John Ott demonstrated the effects of color on growth and development. Plants grown under red glass were found to shoot up four times quicker than those grown in ordinary sunlight, and to grow much more slowly under green glass. However, although red light initially overstimulated plants, their growth was subsequently stunted, whereas blue light produced slower growth initially but taller, thicker plants later.

Rodents kept under blue plastic grew normally, but when kept under red or pink plastic their appetite and growth rate increased. If kept under blue light, animals grew denser coats.

During the 1950s, studies suggested that neonatal jaundice, a potentially fatal condition found in two-thirds of premature babies, could be successfully treated by exposure to sunlight. This was confirmed in the 1960s, and white light replaced the high-risk blood transfusions in the treatment of this condition. Blue light was later found to be more effective and less hazardous than full-spectrum light (the most common form of treatment for neonatal jaundice).

Bright white full-spectrum light is also now being used in the treatment of cancers, SAD (seasonal affective disorder — so called “winter depression“), anorexia, bulimia nervosa, insomnia, jet lag, shift-working, alcohol and drug dependency, and to reduce overall levels of medication.

The blue light found to be successful in the treatment of neonatal jaundice has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. In studies by S. F. McDonald, most of those exposed to blue light for variable periods up to fifteen minutes experienced a significant degree of pain relief. It was concluded that the pain reduction was directly related both to the blue light and the length of exposure to it. Blue light is also used in healing injured tissue and preventing scar tissue, in the treatment of cancers and nonmalignant tumors, as well as skin and lung conditions.

In 1990, scientists reported to the annual conference of the American Association for the Advancement of Science on the successful use of blue light in the treatment of a wide variety of psychological problems, including addictions, eating disorders, impotence, and depression.

RECENT APPLICATIONS OF COLOR

At the other end of the color spectrum, red light has been shown to be effective in the treatment of migraine headaches and cancer. As a result, color is becoming widely accepted as a therapeutic tool with various medical applications. A new technique, which has been developed over the past two decades as a result of pioneering research, is photodynamic therapy, or PDT. This is based on the discovery that certain intravenously injected photosensitive chemicals not only accumulate in cancer cells but selectively identify these cells under ultraviolet light. These photosensitive chemicals then exclusively destroy the cancer cells when activated by red light, whose longer wavelength allows it to penetrate tissue more deeply than other colors. PDT can be used for both diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Thomas Dougherty, who developed PDT, reports that in a worldwide experiment more than 3000 people, with a wide variety of malignant tumors, have been successfully treated with this technique.

OTHER THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS

Color is also used therapeutically in a variety of non medical settings. In some cases its effects have been quite accidental, as in a report to me by the governor of a newly built prison in which each of its four wings had been painted a different color. Both he and his staff found that the behavior of the prisoners varied significantly depending on which wing they lived in, although their allocation to each had been random. Those in red and yellow wings were more inclined to violence than those in the blue and green wings.

Experimental research lends support to these observations. Viewing red light has been found to increase subjects’ strength by 13.5 percent and to elicit 5.8 percent more electrical activity in the arm muscles. For this reason it is now used to improve the performance of athletes. Whereas red light appears to help athletes who need short, quick bursts of energy, blue light assists in performances requiring a more steady energy output.

By comparison, pink has been found to have a tranquilizing and calming effect within minutes of exposure. It suppresses hostile, aggressive, and anxious behavior � interesting given its traditional association with women in Western culture. Pink holding cells are now widely used to reduce violent and aggressive behavior among prisoners, and some sources have reported a reduction of muscle strength in inmates within 2.7 seconds. It appears that when in pink surroundings people cannot be aggressive even if they want to, because the color saps their energy.

By contrast, yellow should be avoided in such contexts because it is highly stimulating. Gimbel has suggested a possible relationship between violent street crime and sodium yellow street lighting.

Research has also shown that color-tinted eyeglasses can be highly effective in the treatment of learning difficulties, notably dyslexia. This was first discovered by psychologist Helen Irlen, but was regarded skeptically until recent investigations by the British Medical Research Council confirmed Irlen’s claims. In June 1993, a new optician’s device called the Intuitive Colorimeter was made available to British opticians so they could measure which tint � bright pink, yellow, green or blue � best helps people who normally see text as swirling, wobbling, or with letters appearing in the wrong order.

PHYSICAL EFFECTS OF COLOR

Until recently, the function of light was thought to relate largely to sight. However, it is now well established that color need not actually be seen for it to have definite psychological and physiological effects. It can also be distinguished by blind, colorblind, and blindfolded subjects. This phenomenon, referred to as eyeless sight, dermo-optic vision, or bio-introscopy, has been researched since the 1920s, when it was established that hypnotized blindfolded subjects could recognize colors and shapes with their foreheads, and that non hypnotized blindfolded subjects could precisely describe colors and shapes presented under glass.

Research in Russia during the 1960s was stimulated by studies of Roza Kulesheva, who, when blindfolded, could distinguish color and shape with her fingertips, and could also read this way. Other experiments found that Kulesheva was not exceptional; one in six experimental subjects could recognize color with their fingertips after only 20-30 minutes training, and blind people developed this sensitivity even more quickly.

Some subjects who could distinguish color correctly by holding their fingers 20-80 centimeters above color cards described experiencing sensations varying from needle pricks to faint breezes, depending on the color. Even when heat differences, structural differences in dyestuffs, and other variables were controlled, people were still able to distinguish colors accurately, whether they were put under glass, tracing paper, aluminium foil, brass or copper plates. The phenomenon remains something of a puzzle.

Understanding of these effects has come about only as a result of research into the hormones melatonin and serotonin, both of which are produced by the pineal gland in the brain. Melatonin is known to be the crucial chemical pathway by which animals respond to light and synchronize their bodily functioning with diurnal, lunar, and seasonal variations. Serotonin is a very important neurotransmitter in the brain, whose action has been linked with mental disturbances such as schizophrenia and hallucinogenic states.

Serotonin, a stimulant, is produced by day, whereas the output of melatonin � which is linked with sleep � increases when it is dark and has a generally depressive effect. This is reversed when it is light and production of melatonin drops. Its main site of action appears to be the hypothalamus, the part of the brain involved in mediating the effects of various hormones and regulating emotions. However, changes in the output of melatonin in response to light influence every cell of the body, notably the reproductive processes, which are very sensitive to such variations. Very high levels of melatonin have been found in women with ovulation problems and anorexia nervosa (a characteristic feature of which is amenorrhoea, or absence of periods), in men with low sperm count, and people suffering from seasonal affective disorder (SAD), which usually occurs during winter.

Depression in general appears to be closely linked with melatonin levels, and sufferers tend to show rapid improvement in response to natural sunlight or light therapy using full-spectrum lamps. Research has also confirmed that certain parts of the brain are not only light sensitive but actually respond differently to different wavelengths; it is now believed that different wavelengths (color) of radiation interact differently with the endocrine system to stimulate or reduce hormone production.

It might be thought that modern-day healing with color is based on the discoveries of Western science over the past few decades. However, it is based on an altogether more ancient and esoteric science whose principles and practices have yet to be acknowledged, much less verified by Western scientists. Healing with color is rooted in ancient mysticism, the major principles of which are common to many different cultures throughout the world.

Your Choice of Color

Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung encouraged his patients to use color in their paintings to express the deepest unconscious part of their psyches. We all go through ?favorite color? phases. It has been discovered that personality traits are reflected by your preferred color. Extroverts favor red, introverts prefer blue, yellow is the choice of intellectuals, and well-balanced individuals tend to go for green.

Using Color Positively

Apart from recognizing whether something suits you or not, an inner sense tells you which color to wear. Deny this feeling and you could be ignoring a benevolent influence. For example, red increase’s energy and promotes free movement. For a woman it can reflect changes in the reproductive cycle such as menstruation or ovulation. If you have a sudden desire to wear red it could indicate that you are about to experience a tiring day and need all the help you can get. Interestingly when traffic lights were first introduced people had great difficulty stopping for the red light because on a psychological level red means �GO� and green means �STOP.�
Why do you look great in something one day and the next time you wear the same outfit it looks dreadful? It is because the color no longer reflects who you are in that moment. Wearing a color can cause you to act and react to life in different ways. Your choice offers insight into current life issues and can, in some instances warn of potential illness.

Color and Illness

Each color has positive attributes or truths and the opposites of these are challenges. For instance, the truth of blue symbolizes faith and communication. The challenge is a lack of faith, depression, and difficulty with speech. Conscious awareness of the colors you choose to wear can offer insight into potential change in your life. For example, Illness of some kind can be indicated when a color that is out of character is worn frequently. If red is worn regularly it could point to a physical condition, blue an emotional imbalance, and yellow a nervous state.

Dis-ease means that we are out of balance, color can help to re-balance and make us whole again. Red is good for improving circulation and orange has been found to be beneficial for children with autism. Color healing was used in the temples of Heliopolis in Ancient Egypt, as well as in China and India. Black is a popular non-color, often worn to suppress and protect the emotions. Any color worn with it is a paradox since it represents unrealized potential. Ideally, stimulating colors should be used in the morning and sedating colors in the evening. If a sequence of colored lights is used, start with stimulating colors, to proceed to blue, and finish with green.

Red (Bright Red): Warm and stimulating, this color is good for anemia, or whenever you feel pale or cold or have chilled extremities; it’s also useful for ultraviolet and X-ray burns and frostbite. Red is a liver stimulant and counterirritant (it brings internal inflammations to the surface.)

Orange: A respiratory stimulant, this is useful for weak lungs, asthma, consumption, and emphysema; it is also for overweight and underactive people with an underactive thyroid (because it energizes the thyroid and sedates the parathyroid). Orange can relieve spasm, cramps, and other abdominal issues.

Yellow: The most luminous color, it is a strong stimulant and energizer for muscles, nerves, and emotions. Use it in all cases of paralysis and muscle disorders: for nerve building; and in nervous exhaustion. Use for indigestion, constipation, diabetes, or depression, for skin cleansing, and to destroy intestinal worms.

Lemon (Yellow-Green): This color stimulates brain activity and activates the thymus.

Green: Green stimulates the pituitary gland, encourages muscle and tissue building, and breaks up hardened cell masses and clots. It is balancing, anticongestive, purifying, and a germicidal and disinfectant.

Blue: Cooling and strongly anti-inflammatory, blue is antiseptic and stops bleeding; it also reduces fever and pain. Use it to treat all conditions marked by redness, swelling, and heat, and acute phases of arthritis, gout, and rheumatism. Blue is relaxing and calming; it slows the pulse, can reduce high blood pressure, and is valuable for underweight and overactive people.

Indigo: A sedative, indigo is good for pain relieving, arresting discharges and bleeding, and as an astringent. It stimulates the parathyroid and sedates the thyroid.

Violet: The color is relaxing and soothing, stimulates the spleen, and builds white blood cells. Violet sedates heart and muscle activity, and it calms hyperactive people. It also suppresses appetite.

Magenta: This color is energizing and improves and normalizes the emotions, the aura, and the sexual glands. Magenta energizes the adrenal glands and the heart muscle, normalizes the heart and blood pressure, and improves the circulation.

By placing these minerals at the base of any plant or burying them along side your vegetables, they can bring an added sense of encouragement and even spirituality to your hard work.

Minerals Used In The Garden

Agate (Moss): is a transparent stone that has inclusions of minerals that make it look like the stone has foliage in its matrix. This pretty stones can make a decorative border around any plant or flower bed.

Boji Stones: are actually a registered trademark of stones discovered in Colorado. The appear smooth on one side (female), while others have small protrusion on one side (male). These pair of stones are many composed of pyrite and palladium and have been used to facilitate growth and encourage telecommunication between plants.

Cerussite: is a mineral, which occasionally resembles trees branching out with icicles. This stone has been used in gardens and work fields to assist in relieving infestation. It can be used to energize and protect house plants.

Daphnite: has been used by agricultural associations, farmers and growers of herbs, plants and flowers as the stone of transformation and transmutation. It appears to facilitate the communication with the plant world in order to enhance gardens, terrariums and crops of any kind.

Fossils: are the organic materials that have turned to stone. Minerals incorporate into the cellular structures of animals, bones, insects, shells and wood, filling in the spaces and are often found with inclusions of other plants or animals. Fossils are a stamp from the past that can be used to adorn any garden, indoor/outdoor potted plants. Their high mineral content is said to supplement any type of plantings.

Quartz: is considered solidified light and oxygen. Quartz encompasses a large family of stones and crystals, all of which are made up primarily of silicon dioxide, one of the most common and most important substances in the world. This mineral is found over 2/3 of the earth and can be used in many ways throughout your garden. Create beautiful borders.

Bury a few quartz points facing upward next to your potted plants. Lay some clear quartz tumbled stones along side your flower garden. Use an elixir (see below) of quartz and water your plants with them. Make a crystal grid (see below) around your field or plant beds to encourage growth, harmony and transform energy.

Sphene: is a mineral that grows in plate-like or wedge shaped form and has been used in grids (see below) to encourage growth.

Tourmaline (Green): is a healing stone that some gem healers consider the strongest of all green stones. It is used to help achieve balance in all areas. Botanists, herbalists, farmers and gardeners have all used this stone to increase the effectiveness of an herb’s healing properties. Green tourmaline is said to hold the “essence of the plant kingdom” within it and is used to conduct energy between the earth and the plants for smoother transitions during growth.

Creating A Garden Grid

A ‘Grid’ is a way to arrange the stones in a sacred geometric pattern. They are then consciously ‘activated’ by connecting a ‘line of Light’ between the stones so that they radiate an energy field in the immediate environment in which they are constructed.

Those of you who are sensitive to energy will be able to tell immediately that there is a shift of energy in the area where you construct a Grid. Depending on which stones you choose, there will either be a gentle shift… or a very tangible one.

Creating a Sacred Space:

You may to add a Grid that supports harmony in your garden or a general feelings of love and comfort. There are no right or wrongs. Choose the space. Familiarizing yourself with the various metaphysical properties of minerals can be very helpful to you as you make your choices.

You can get a nice list of stones you may want to use and then use a pendulum to figure out which ones would be the most effective for you.

The first thing to do is develop clear intent of the purpose of your grid.

Hold your crystals in your hands at heart level. Say a prayer of intention or affirmation that will program these stones to work their highest good for your garden.

Place them in a formation. Consider using sacred symbols around your plant or garden such as a star, a circle, a cross or a square. Save one crystal before placing it into the earth.

To connect the grid lines start by pointing the last crystal toward the first stone you laid down. Holding it a few inches above the grid, draw a line of energy, that connects each crystal you have laid out. Once you have traced these energy lines over your stones, plant the last crystal in your hand into the earth.

Making Crystal Elixirs

Crystal concoctions or elixirs are the recipes of the past. It is recommended to place clean stones or crystals into clean, clear distilled water and place it in the morning sun through the day and into the night of a full moon for 24 hours.

This physical universe that we inhabit is a manifestation of the conscious energy that created it. Waves of energy in a multitude of frequencies fill and penetrate every part of the universe. Huge tracts of space that were thought to be empty are actually seething with waves of energy. Some of these waves are of a frequency that is not only a wave, but is also a particle. These frequencies of energy/matter are the foundation of physicality, being the doorway through which energy can be identified as having mass, and therefor, being physical. Some of these particles may be familiar to you, such as the quark, the gauge particle (such as photons and gluons), and the leptons (such as an electron). These particles are called fundamental particles by scientists.

These fundamental particles are affected by the energy around them. For instance, it is the attraction between the proton and electron that form the atom. Many physicists now believe (through observation) that these particles are responsive to the energy of thought– even though the energy of thought has not been classified by science. When fundamental particles interact, they create energy, depending on what type of particles are interacting. For instance, photons carry electro-magnetic interactions. The decay of particles into several particles creates nuclear interaction. There are four types of interaction that have been classified to date. These are strong nuclear, electromagnetic, weak nuclear, and gravitational.

These types of energy form our experiences here on the earth plane. Since these types of energy are only created by the interaction of fundamental particles, we can think of them as being generated by matter. In other words, in order for these types of energy to be existent in our dimension/reality, there must first be fundamental particles present. Now things get interesting!

If fundamental particles can be affected by thought, but do not create thought through their interactions, then thought must be of an energy frequency that is pre-physical, suggesting that thought pre-exists matter. The idea that thought pre-exists matter is fundamental to all types of vibrational healing. From this hypothesis springs the idea that consciousness created our physical universe. The idea that your thoughts create your reality is true to the deepest levels of reality. Your thought (consciousness), literally moves these particles, changing the types of interaction they have, and the forms they manifest.

One of the miraculous things about fundamental particles is that they can change into one another! Photons can change into leptons, which can change into gluons, etc. Each of these types of particles also has its own identifying mass, electric charge, spin, and color. All of these traits are mutable, and particles can take on the traits of other particles as they change from one type to another. It is this change or fundamental interaction that is the basis of physicality. This basic idea of particles changing from one type to another suggests that matter does not have a permanent form at all, but is constantly changing and shifting.

The recent rediscovery of the science of particle physics signaled a time of great change in the consciousness of humanity and the understanding of this limited but wonderful realm we call physicality. The understanding about the very nature of humanity has changed. We, as conscious beings, pre-exist and outlast our physical forms. Our very consciousness influences our reality on the most minute and basic level. We are creators of our physical existence.

With this understanding, we can look at most types of imbalance and healing in a totally different way. Instead of treating a physical being as solely a physical being, and utilizing the gross treatments of physicality, we can now utilize the finer and more subtle treatments of vibrational medicine. This type of treatment influences the very basis of our physical reality– treating the originating imbalances instead of the symptomatic manifestations of the physical world.

When fundamental particles interact, they create energy. The type of energy created by these interactions depends upon the type of fundamental particles that are interacting. Remember that we can direct fundamental particles with the energy of thought. In other words, our thoughts are capable of creating energy on the physical plane. When we practice vibrational medicine with intent, we are directing the interactions of fundamental particles and therefor directing the types and intensity of energy created. These different types of energy can have differing effects upon the way in which a consciousness manifests in physical form.

Similarly, if we switch from the microcosmic view to the macrocosmic view, we can view our own consciousnesses as fundamental particles that are directed by a larger consciousness, and so on back to the source of creation. Like fundamental particles, we also have the ability to completely change our physical form and attributes in order to experience different frequencies of energy when experience fundamental interactions with other particles of consciousness (other beings).

To us, this shift in form primarily occurs when we change our physical form through death and rebirth of the physical body. The other “particles” that we encounter are the other people and beings that we interact with in order to learn our life lessons. When humanity becomes fully conscious in physicality, we may even be able to change our physical form during one lifetime, or perhaps evolve into a different type of being altogether. There is the possibility that the great amount of energy released by the interaction of fundamental particles within a fully conscious being could cause the physical body to become metastable and luminous– in effect, becoming a “light body” or “energy being”. I personally believe that this could be the future of human evolution in the distant future.

When one shifts one’s attention from the physical self and recognizes that the physical self is only one small part of the total consciousness that creates it, one is able to affect the underlying structure of physicality. I’m sure that you have heard of the psychic powers of psychokenisis, which is the ability to move objects with the mind. This power occurs in people who’s natural ability allows them to connect with that frequency of consciousness that can cause kinetic energy to be released from matter. They can, literally, move matter with thought. This is a talent that we are all capable of. Some of us just need more practice than others!

Some people have also been documented as having the ability to create fire by concentration. By directing their intent, these people can set paper on fire with the energy that is produced from the palms of their hands. There is a sect of Tibetan Buddhist monks that practice a type of energy yoga that allows them to heat their bodies in freezing cold. These monks are capable of sleeping in the snow in -30� temperatures overnight in the Himalayas. The heightened thermal radiation from their bodies melts the snow around them, and dries freezing wet robes in a half an hour. These monks, through practice, have learned to affect matter so that fundamental particles will interact in order to produce thermal radiation.

So how do all of these very tiny particles gather together to create our physical bodies? Well, that will be explained a little further on in the course. Suffice it to say at the moment that our consciousness is the founder and director of our physical reality. Our own consciousness is an extension of a greater consciousness that creates and directs the basic laws of physicality. Our physical well being depends upon our conscious direction of our physical body; and through conscious thought we are able to direct physicality to take or change form according to our direction.

So, you ask, what does all of this have to do with crystals? Everything! Lets procede to the next section in order to take a look at how particle physics relates to spiritual healing with crystals and stones.

So here we are. The great consciousness has created our little consciousness, and we have, in turn, created fundamental particles to build our physical experience with. We know that it is the interaction of these fundamental particles that form our reality. But how does energy change from the level of the greater consciousness through the progressive levels of frequency until it becomes physical? And how does physicality, in turn, affect energy frequencies? The first question must be explored in future lessons, as it is this process of creation from energy to matter that is the foundation of energetic neoteny. The second question, however, has direct bearing on why and how crystals work in the physical and near energetic planes.

Before I go any further, however, I would like to clarify the way in which I am using the term “physical”. As we have seen previously, the physical plane encompasses not only matter, but also the frequencies of energy that are created by the interaction of fundamental particles. The “physical” plane, then, would consist of fundamental particles and their interactions. The “near energetic” plane consists of those energies that are created by the interaction of the physical fundamental particles. The “true energetic” plane consists of frequencies of energy that pre-exist fundamental particles, and are not generated by them. Such energies would include soul level emanations, higher guidance from pre-physical sources, the pre-physical consciousness (we’ll discuss this more in-depth during our look at energetic neoteny), and all “spiritually” derived frequencies. I have included these definitions in your glossary for your convenience.

So far, then, we have explored the fundamental particles as being the first true bits of matter, and therefor, the building blocks of the physical plane. We know that our conscious thoughts can direct these particles to interact in certain ways that create both forms of matter and energy, thus creating our reality here on Earth. By carrying this understanding to its logical conclusion, we can also deduce that all matter on earth, because it is constructed of fundamental particles which interact, will both carry and generate specific frequencies of energy. This energy is carried through the physical law of resonance.

Lets go back a bit, and consider what happens when fundamental particles interact. One of the primary building blocks of the universe is the atom. Atoms are communities of fundamental particles that are constantly interacting in a way that causes the entire structure to resonate at a certain level of vibration, and to take on particular physical characteristics. There are a limited number of the types of communities that fundamental particles can join in. Here on earth, we know of 109 kinds of fundamental particle communities that can form. Science has dubbed these types of communities the “chemical elements”. These are represented on the periodic table of elements, which describes the organization of the fundamental particles that make up these communities.

All matter on the physical plane is constructed of these particle communities (atoms). Each of these communities carries a particular frequency of energy. When these atoms join together, they form molecules– which are larger communities of fundamental particles that exist in the same area, resonate together as a whole, but maintain their individual identities. A good analogy for this is that of a city, which is a definable whole, yet it contains many smaller communities that may have their own physical boundaries, language, culture, etc.

Molecules can be either pure or compound. For instance, copper (Cu) is both a chemical element atom, and a metal. When many atoms or communities of copper come together in a copper molecule, it forms as the metal copper. When copper atoms combine with, say, oxygen atoms to form molecules, the result is not copper metal but the mineral copper oxide or Cuprite! The energy or vibration of Cuprite is distinctly different than that of the metal copper. The combination of the copper communities vibration and the oxygen community’s vibration creates a resonant field that is larger and quite different than the individual communities of the compound.

So, we know that each of these atoms has its own vibration. When two communities (atoms) of chemical elements come together, they enter into energetic resonance with one another; creating a larger field of vibration that is a harmonious blending of the vibrations into a third frequency. All matter that we know of consists of these basic elements that are arranged into different types of larger communities (compound molecules and pure molecules). These can then be classed according to the natural elemental forces of nature. For instance, solid matter is Earth, metastable compounds and fundamental energies are related to Fire, liquids are related to Water, and gasses are Wind.

Remember the law of resonance? It states that when one system encounters another, similar system, their vibrations must come into a state of resonance (harmonic vibration). This law also states that the smaller field of vibration will be the one that will be changed to match the larger field of vibration. So, we know that you are composed of many gazillions of communities of atoms that have formed many molecules, and that these molecules have formed you. When you pick up a piece of Cuprite (CuO), the law of resonance states that the vibration of that piece of cuprite, which is a community of copper and oxygen atoms, will enter into a state of resonance with the atoms that are of a similar vibration in your own body. In other words, the cuprite will enter into resonance with the copper and oxygen molecules in your physical body. This will create a larger resonant field between your energy and the energy of the cuprite.

The resonant field that is created within your physical and energetic bodies will then affect other vibrational fields in your body, and a domino or cascade effect is created. With all of your vibratory fields attempting to align with the energy of this piece of cuprite, you would be expected to experience some sort of energetic shift! Especially if you are consciously directing your fundamental particles to enter into resonance with the fundamental particles of the cuprite.

The symptoms of this energetic shift could be a realignment of the energies of your physical self. You may enter an altered vibratory state where you experience reality from the vibration of cuprite. You may be able to realign your physical body with the vibration of the cuprite, thus stimulating some areas that are particularly aligned with that energy. You may experience new understandings and healing as the vibration “shakes loose” densities and blocks within the energy field. You may find that you can sense that same vibration in other people and through conscious direction, affect their energy fields with the frequency of cuprite that you carry within your own human crystal! You may even be able to access the energy of Cuprite by consciously resonating with the copper and oxygen vibrations in the Earth’s energetic field.

Crystals and stones also affect the physical plane in ways other than by the energy created by the interaction of fundamental particles within the stone itself. Stone and crystals also interact with light. This interaction is visible to us in the form of color within the stone. The color of a stone is actually a visible interaction between the fundamental particle structure of the stone and the fundamental particles called photons, that carry the energy of light. This interaction between the photons an the stone alters the energy of the light, changing its vibrational frequency, and exhibiting this change as color. When color is introduced into a system, it changes the type of energy that is absorbed by that system; thus changing the way that light affects that system.

The way in which color affects the energy fields of humans is utilized in color therapy. This therapy is based on the premise that by introducing controlled frequencies of energy , in the form of color , into the energetic field or environment of a person, one can change the emotional and physical experiences of that person. Because of the incredible range of beautiful color in stones, they are uniquely suited to be natural sources of color therapy.

The effects, then, of crystals and minerals on the physical body are very real and scientifically based. Of course, the idea that consciousness directs fundamental particles in their actions has not yet been proven, but it certainly has been theorized based on observations and experiments conducted by particle physicists and quantum theorists. There is no doubt in my mind, however, that through consciously directing our interactions with stones and crystals, the elemental forces, and our own human crystal, we are able to greatly accelerate or ability to effectively heal and balance energies on the Earth plane.

We will discuss the theory and technique of conscious resonance in the chapter on resonance. Suffice it say that, even if you were to pick up a stone and not consciously enter into resonance with it, the effects would still be there but may not be as pronounced. Many of you may have found that when you were first drawn to working with crystals and stones, there were some stones that you were able to feel, and some stones that you were not able to feel. Probably after much time spent in practicing (consciously or unconsciously) how to feel a stone’s energy, you are now able to feel the energy of most types of stones. If you are not, don’t worry! Remember, this course is about teaching you to fish– and part of that is about learning to consciously attune to the energy of any stone you come into contact with– be it a crystal or a river rock.

Color Healing History

The history of color healing goes back over 5,000 years, from the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, Native American’s, and Tibetans to present day practitioners and healers.

The ancient Egyptians wore amulets of colored stones. They wore red to treat diseases and building strength, yellow to create happiness, and green to increase Fertility.

Don’t use any kind of detergent unless for some reason grease has gotten on them. Detergents, even organic ones, tend to leave a film on crystals.

Inner Dust

Clearing crystals is more an act of getting rid of inner, psychic dust. Crystals are valuable in the technical world because they record and store information. When we translate this role into spiritual terms we say that crystals take in and store the vibrations which surround them.

This benefits us in that we are able to program them to translate our desires and dreams into a vibration which attracts the energy which will materialize them. Crystals, however, not being us, don’t discriminate between “good” and “bad” vibrations, and collect whatever’s around.

Making a Crystal Yours

When you first purchase crystals you want to make them yours. You will want to erase or clear from them the vibrations of all those who have handled them — even those of the nice people at Beyond the Rainbow — not because those vibrations are bad, but because your crystals, in order to respond to your needs and wishes, must be attuned to your vibrations.

There are times when you don’t want a crystal to have your vibrations, either.

* If you’ve been working with crystals to heal emotional pain, your crystals may absorb these vibrations.
* The same can be true if you’ve been doing a lot of releasing work.
* If you’ve programmed crystals for specific purposes, you’ll need to clear them if you want to program them for new goals/dreams.

Crystal Baths

One way to clear your crystals is to bury them in sea or kosher salt overnight. Wash them afterwards and, if possible, put them in a place where they can dry in the sun. You can get similar results by using salt water, and this is a better idea for highly polished stones, as salt crystals may scratch your crystals’ surfaces. Immersing them in salt water serves the dual purposes of cleaning and clearing.

My method is to fill bowls in filtered water into which I shake some salt (probably the equivalent of two tablespoons per pint of water.) I leave the crystals in the water overnight. The next day I rinse them and put them out to dry. I prefer to let them dry by themselves.

If the temperature is warm (crystals may crack in subfreezing temperatures) I put the bowls outside and let them dry in the sun.

Precautions

Although I’ve used this method for many years without traumatized crystals, I think it’s appropriate to say that other people feel this is too harsh a clearing method. If you’d like to try this method, use it with a few crystals and see how you feel.

Some crystals shouldn’t be placed in water, particularly soft stones such as azurite, malachite, rough chrysocolla, selenite. I’ve heard that calcite shouldn’t be placed in water, but I’ve done so with no negative results. A variant on the sea salt method is to clear your crystals by placing them in the ocean. I recommend putting them in a pail unless you plan to give a gift to the sea.

Smudging

This is the least invasive and most popular method for clearing crystals. You can use a smudge stick for this. A smudge stick may consist of some of the following herbs: include cedar, sage, lavender, juniper, pine.

Pass your crystals through the smoke — or, if you have arrangements of crystals around your house, pass the smudge stick over the crystals. This method is excellent as well for clearing yourself and your environment.

Cleaning/Clearing with Essential Oils

The relationship between crystals and essential oils deserves an article of its own. My focus here is on particular oils that have cleaning/clearing properties. The most economical method for using oils is to place crystals in a container, fill it with filtered water as you would for the salt water method, and put a drop or two of essential oil into the water.

Lemon: This has a purifying effect and, on a practical level, cuts grease.

Juniper: Like juniper in a smudge stick, juniper oil has the ability to help release any negative vibrations.

Lavender: If you’ve been doing any kind of intense emotional work with your crystals, lavender oil has a calming and balancing effect. Put some on yourself, too.

The previous methods can work well for large quantities of crystals. The following methods are better for individual crystals or small quantities of small crystals.

The Earth Method

You can bury your crystals in the earth. (Do not use this method on iron-based stones such as hematite and tiger iron.) This method can clear any rough energy from your crystals and give them a kind of rebirth in the earth (from which most crystals are mined). It’s like taking them home.

Be sure to mark the place where you’ve buried them.

Visualization

Close your eyes, relax, and while holding your Crystal, visualize it glowing with white light or rainbow hues. Feel it radiating smooth, balanced energy.

Reiki

How Often Do Crystals Need to be Cleared?

It depends on how much you use them. If they’re sitting on your desk, looking pretty (and you can get a great deal of value just from having them around) once every three months is probably sufficient, in which case they probably need baths, too. If, as mentioned above, you do intense emotional work with your crystals, clear them after each session.

The closest thing in nature to quartz is the gray matter of the brain. When a crystal heats up in your hand or gives you chicken-skin, you are communicating with it, accessing its stored information or feeling its reaction to the environment.
